I've acquired a 7 clasp QSA to 10 Cpl. C. Wood, Bethune's M.I. and require assistance in trying to identify the chaps christian name. Not even the nominal roll which would be my first port of call, has the detail required.

Any assistance in discovering Mr. Wood's identity would be appreciated.

Regards

Rory

a booklet published here by Mostly Unsung shows only C.Wood and remarks shows (from) "Durban, SA". The Mostly Unsung booklet roll was compiled from NAA. What bars does your QSA have?

All surviving papers for Bethune's MI are in WO126/2-3 and you should consult that before doing anything else.

Thanks chaps - I have asked Kevin Aspling to get Wood's attestation papers and, hopefully, all will be revealed soon.

The bars as as follows:

Cape Colony
Orange Free State
Transvaal
Tugela Heights
Relief of Ladysmith
Laing's Nek
and SA 1901
(loose on ribbon)

Excellent set of bars; I always like to see TH/RofL on a medal! Should there be a story behind the medal - and you never know! - you might care to do a post on it.

Be prepared for a disapointment, it will either be a yes or a no, WO126/2-3 is by no means complete.
