Another impulse buy from ebay
This was from the same seller as the Kitchener's Horse so after placing a winning bid it arrived safely today.

386 Trooper George Robert Currie Nicoll Kitchener's Fighting Scouts
Trooper Nicol attested for the KFS on 29th July 1901 at Durban, his signature was witnessed by Lieut.John Hart
He was 22 years old 5 feet 6" tall with blue eyes and fair hair.
His next of kin is shown as Mr.G.Nicoll 10 South Union Street, Dundee, Scotland.
Medal rolls show him attached to the 2nd KFS
His QSA is verified with clasps Transvaal and OFS another roll shows his entitlement to SA1901 & 02 but not to the KSA
The date clasps are attached to the other clasps with wire, these I think would have been issued at a later date.
Trooper Nicholl is shown as discharged on 8th February 1902
Another new unit for my South African section.
As always if any members can add any more information I would be very grateful.

Paul :)

Again, another nice medal to a good colonial unit Paul. You really must get hold of a copy of Stirling's book on the colonials in South Africa! (I know I say that every time I see you). ;)

Cheers

Apologies Paul. I thought it was the British Regiments volume you had.

Anyway you really need that volume too!

Another nice QSA Paul.

Both of Stirling's books are available on this site. The information is distributed across the various units.

Best wishes
David
