In my DCM files is the following extraordinary story. Can anyone verify Willie Fisher's alleged service? he certainly didn't receive the D.C.M. The cutting is from the 'Manchester Courier' 26th July 1902.

Frank,

Thanks - that's extraordinary! It fits completely with the dates in the newspaper article. Any sign of him in Damant's Horse beforehand or remarks on the roll?

Best wishes,

Justin

Hello Justin,
There is a William Fisher in WO127/7 with a note "did not join regiment" I had assumed this could have been him, however, when you look at their medal roll, I don't think it can be him, there appear to be two men with that name, I'd have to have a much more in depth look.
Perhaps a careful look at WO126/35-38 and WO126/40-43 may be a good idea!
Kind regards Frank
