I went after Bousfield but came up a bit short. I wasn't too distressed as he was the brother to the Bousfield I wanted - that to the DLI chap and founding father of Garlicke and Bousfield in Durban.

I consoled myself with Clouston of Murray's Horse whih was a must as it is a double issue.

Rory

I tried for both Clouston and Bousfield but I’m pleased to see they have gone to good homes.

I was happy with my Ferguson - Kim. LH purchase although I would have like the Def of Maf TG medal

Hi David
I also liked Bousfield and was successful at Kaplan’ss Auction. I have not managed to research him yet, other than to find out that his name was Hugh Miberley Bousfield, a Natalia’s who was later in command of the Merebank Boer prison camp. He died in about 1953.
Any further information would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Adrian

Hi Adrian

I had done a bit of prep work on Bousfield before the auction - His father was the Bishop of Pretoria . Send me a PM if you would like additional info. I'm glad you picked up on the Merebank Concentration Camp side of things - as you know he was the Superintendent and was looked upon as a "kindly man".

From what I recall he was the I.L.I.'s paymaster (from the nominal roll) which is what persuaded me not to go too high as, with that role he was most likely no where near Spioenkop which is what attracts me to the regiment.

Still a very nice medal and I think his only entitlement.

Regards

Rory

Adrian,

From the nominal roll, he was Captain and Quartermaster in the ILI.
