Congratulations! I am pleased that the medal finally found a good home. The date clasps add to the medal by making it a distinctive talking point.

At last indeed and a great QSA to boot!

Pte Cunningham did die of disease in Ladysmith on 11 Mar 1900 and was buried in Ladysmith.

I should be able to find his name on a couple of monuments for you.

Best wishes
David

Hello Paul,
I know what you mean about "saving up" I think these days it is more like taking out a mortgage though. :(
They have never been cheap medals, here is what I was faced with, well over twenty years ago now!

A Talana pair for your interest, same dealer, same time!

So Frank,
Which did you buy?
On relection now they look good value, but 20 years ago it was still big money.
Paul :)

Hello Paul,
What I wanted to show you was that back then, well over twenty years ago, this particular clasp was expensive, you could buy a Great War pair to the Tank Corps for £20 and Great War trios were £25-30.
I bought a good few Elandslaagte and Talana clasps in those days though, very happy times indeed!
Kind regards Frank
