I think I got 4/6 but one was at exactly my bid so will have to wait for confirmation.

Well done to those with successful bids.

0/2 for me - both by just R500 (GBP24). I already have four medals from Henk's collection acquired previously so the "famous collector" angle is covered. Looking forward to Spinks on Dec 8.

I have just been checking prices realised for the sale (many thanks for posting on the forum David) and reasonably sure that I had a couple of successes, but I won't blow my trumpet too hard until the invoice ftom Natalie hits my Inbox!

This was the first postal auction that I have participated in and must say it has been an enjoyable experience, even better if you have a winning bid! The buzz of bidding is prolonged compared to the quick hit pace of the live saleroom or bidding online. I would certainly do it again at #72.

The real beauty of #71 was the amount and variety of lots from Henk's collection which meant that we all had a more than reasonable chance of coming away from it all with something. Many lots appeared to have had just one bid at the lower estimate and so the bidder got lucky. Others were hotly contested such as the DCM groups.

Take a good look at all of the lots, many won't be seen at auction for a good few years I suspect!

Well done to all successful bidders.

Meurig,

It is frustrating to be that close.

I was recalling the study by Kahneman and Tversky which found that losses are felt more acutely than successes. I am regretting not going higher on the Qumbu medal although I was certainly not within R500 of the final price.
