4183 Daniel johnston received the DCM 2/10/1901, mentioned in the London gazette 10/09/1901. He also received the KSA with bar south africa 1901 & 1902, also the QSA with bar for Wittebergen, Transvaal & Cape colony whilst serving with the East Yorkshire Regt.
Is there anyway I can find further info about why he received the DCM. Is there a citation??

Hello Wing......

There were a number of DCM's given out for the Boer War with no citations......

Specifically for Distinguished Service over a period of time rather than one specific act.....

Your best bet is if you can find a Regimental History book or contact the Regimental Museum
