There was an auction on Thursday at the offices of A F Brock in Cheshire. Lot 558 consisted of a QSA to one Pte H Biggins. I hadn't before seen a QSA named with this surname so I was certainly interested!

I was fortunate enough to purchase the QSA and now look forward to its arrival. I'll post some pictures when it arrives.

Not a very common name in WO100!

Perhaps this explains your passion for the Boer War - it is in your genes! Congratulations on an odd kind of reunite.

I have never seen a medal to someone who shares the spelling of my family name. I have always thought of this name as a simple one but, in fact, it must be amongst the most often misspelt names in the world. The assumed correct spelling of the name by some elements of humanity accounts for many e-mails not received, as well as my often frayed temper with officialdom - something which in any case is easily achieved in a country where the majority of the civil service has an IQ below 70.

This medal arrived recently (complete with frayed ribbon) and is in nice condition.

Just a shame there are so many edge knocks.
