H. McLean is shown on the medal rolls as being entitled to the first four clasps whilst serving with the 1st Battalion, Brabant’s Horse. He is also confirmed as having qualified for a King’s South Africa Medal with both dated clasps whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion, Imperial Light Horse.

A Wepener clasp to Driscoll's Scouts is much in demand. Bids 11 days before the sale have already reached £1,300 for this QSA.

QSA (5) Cape Colony, Wepener, Transvaal, Wittebergen, South Africa 1901 (310 Corpl: A. Buer. Driscolls Scts.)

Served DrSc 18 March 1900 to until 8 July 1901. Attested at Aliwal North. Discharged at own request at Cape Town. Character very good. Address after discharge: Grand Hotel, East London. Settlement of £33. Served XMR (15) and CDF (not traced). SA01 clasp issued 5 December 1906.

QSA (5). Sotheby's November 1978. Dixon's Medals April 1983 £200.

Jack Scott Palmer. Enlisted 1st BrH 22 November 1899 in Queenstown and posted to D Troop. Aged 21. Trade: Blacksmith. Address: PO, Orange Grove, Fort Beaufort. Discharged 14 July 1900. SA01 and SA02 indicated on 237p88.

Also served Cradock TG (Corporal) and FLH (1140). Named John Scott (in error) on the FLH attestation signed in King William's Town, 11 December 1901. Born in Alice. 5'6". Dark complexion, grey eyes and dark hair. Nationality: Colonist

Thomas Dixon. Enlisted 2nd BrH 7 December 1899 in Port Elizabeth. Discharged 15 October 1900 in Pretoria. Also served CCR (57) from 14 June until disbandment on 13 December 1901. Aged 49 at CCR attestation in Port Elizabeth. 5'10".Fair complexion, blue eyes and fair hair. NOK: Mrs Dixon, 54 Walmer Road, Port Elizabeth
