I would be very surprised if your "Natal name" turns out to be a disappointment! :)

It is a long time since I had a 'Natal name' with research potential, so I am looking forward to this project. Even if it does turn out to be disappointing, it is still a good medal that fills a gap in my collection.

Thanks Frank,

Came away with a couple of QSA's which was a pleasing outcome.

Cheers

My single success on the auction arrived today. It is the QSA awarded to Lieutenant (Interpreter) Joseph Forsyth Ingram, Murray's Scouts and FID. During the operations to relieve the siege of Ladysmith, Ingram served as an interpreter with the Provost Marshal of Natal, Major Alan Chichester. He ended the war as an intelligence officer at Harrismith, Orange River Colony.

So far I have accumulated an absolutely astounding amount of information about Ingram, who was a prominent explorer, writer and artist in Colonial Natal.

Sadly, Ingram's Zulu War medal and KSA are missing.

Brett,

That is a lovely QSA and I hope one day his other medals may come to light.

In the interim, it is great that his life is so well documented. Will you write up his biography in due course?

Best wishes
David
