5694 Private.Bertie Judge 2nd Batt. Devon Regiment.
Son of Sophia Gingell (formally Judge) and Step-Father William Gingell.
Born in Plymouth Stonehouse in 1878.
Missing, believed to be a P.O.W. after the skirmish at Eden Kop in the Transvaal 24th December 1900 at the age of 22
Private Judge is also on the casualty role as slightly wounded on the same day.
My first Devons, something that was missing in my collection.

Hi Paul,
I'm a 1st Battalion type, but, I really like the Devonshire's, they did well in Natal.

Paul,

Another nice addition.

From FindMyPast, it seems there are some service papers for him?

JUDGE Bertie 1879 Devonport, Devon WO96 Militia

Or is that a different Bertie Judge?

Regards
David

Thanks for your comments David, and thanks for pointing out the papers on FMP.
