The value of a good library of books is proved again! Not everything is on the Internet.

Good Morning Mike,
I strongly agree with Brett, there is often nothing like a good old regt history!
As a early morning exercise given the number of men you quoted in the ranks of the 8th Hussars, I decided whilst pondering the interesting possiblities of breakfast :woohoo: to look at their rolls in WO100/115 and WO100/303.
So I waded my way through the many Invalided and Discharged by Purchase and "To A Reserve" to see only a handful on both rolls shown as 15th Hussars or "To 15th Hussars, India" and the odd man in WO100/303 who is shown as serving with the 15th Hussars, with the 8th Hussars given as "other units served with" so to conclude I would say your medal was far rarer than it was expensive! :)
Kind regards Frank

Hello Chaps,

Can I chuck in a spanner; to which unit were medals named for reservists?

I have begun collecting naming details and only have two examples for cavalry reservists so the sample is thin but the question is raised as to naming.

I have noted two QSAs named to the 16th Lancers who were reservists serving with the 12th Lancers.

DNW haven't sold any QSAs to the 15th Hussars, so no help there.

Does anyone have any QSAs to cavalry reservists?

Good Evening Meurig.....

OK you made me look.....

I went through the list of Hussars that I have in my collection and I found two people that would fall into the category, from reserve, served in a different unit, medal issued from unit served in.....

1) From 3rd Hussars, sent to 10th Hussars and medal issued off roll of 10th Hussars, served with 6th Dragoons, medal named 10th.

2) From 20th Hussars recalled from Army Reserve, served with 13th Hussars, medal issued off and named 13th.
