While I appreciate that, for some collectors, the surname on the medal is all important, the chief criteria for me and my brother was always the clasps, unit and rank in that order of precedence. There was a QSA advertised on eBay recently that made me change this buying habit and buy the medal solely on the basis of the recipient's surname. I think this man has a wonderful name:
Yes I agree that is a good surname and the added bonus the more unusual surname the easier the research.
I must admit I have been swayed to purchase a medal by the name, my favourite was on a memorial plaque Alex Forrester Farhquarson, now traded on for QSA's!
