In their sale next month, DNW are listing a QSA to this unit which I had not come across before:

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, South Africa 1901 (L. Cpl. C. J. Holt, I.I.C.D.) nearly extremely fine and probably unique to unit £80-120

The QSA roll for the unit starts at WO100/249 p161. The roll is signed in PMB, 2nd Sep 1901.

The QSA roll lists 107 names and the Supplementary 8 names.

A striking factor of the roll is how many men were not issued with the medal. As an example on the third QSA page, there are 21 men listed. Of these 13 were not issued with a medal because they were dismissed for misconduct. What were they up to?

C J Holt may have previously served in Kitchener's Horse (gaining RoK OFS & Tr) and before that in the Cape Garrison Artillery from which he was discharged medically unfit.
