There is an interesting trio (with a 14-15 Star to the SAMR) on offer on eBay .

What makes it interesting is the recipient received his QSA from the Somerset Light Infantry and KSA from the Cape Police.

The two medals are named; 6804 PTE. R. PLANE. SOMERSET: LT. INF. and 185 PTE. R.A. PLANE. C.P. DIST. 2 respectively.

Presumably he was time expired in 1901 and decided not to return home?

It would be interesting to know what became of his War and Victory Medals. He may have moved to another unit after the GSWA campaign and served in GEA and/or Europe, which was the case with many (?most) South African servicemen. The later issued War and Victory Medals are often separated from the 14/15 Star in South African groups.

That's a good idea Brett. I'll see if there is a UK MIC for him.
