According to the unit page the regiment was raised in February and March, 1901 and served in the Newcastle area, seeing no fighting.

M&E say T. H. Finlay of the Natal Mounted Infantry is confirmed on the medal roll (surname given as ‘Finley’), also served as 36931 with the 1st Scottish Horse, and as an Orderly with the Imperial Hospital Corps
