Now the medals:

The largest number of ILH men to serve in the Mafeking Relief Column came from the five squadrons (‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’ & ‘F’), which had fought at Elandslaagte and in the Defence of Ladysmith. The QSA’s of these men most often carried the following clasps: Relief of Mafeking, Elandslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith, Transvaal.
Two such medals are shown below and are those of Trooper W Wilson and Corporal T W Hope. The latter left the regiment after it reached the Transvaal, but he later re-enlisted and he earned the additional clasps, ‘Orange Free State’ and ‘South Africa 1901’
