Ex- Cala Town Guard

Born: 18/11/1832, Grahamstown, Cape Colony
Died: 15/02/1920, Fort Malan, Eastern Cape

Employment: Wesleyan Minister

29 Officers on Medal Roll for Tembu Levies

Were the Tembu Levies a fighting unit? If so, surprising to see a Wesleyan Minister amongst their ranks. At the time of the ABW the Methodist Church were a strictly pacifist organisation and they vociferously opposed the war. They changed their views very early in WW1.

That would be Henry Blacker Warner....

Died at the age of 87 inn 1920. 67/68 years old in the Boer War - must be almost a record.
