Thanks to indications found here I have been able to confirm that at least two of the brothers were in the Boer war and were awarded medals.
(There were seven brothers all Connaught Rangers who served in WW1 and all returned).
Martin Flynn 6360 and Patrick Flynn 6833. Can someone help me understand the annotations on the attached form?
I see Martin was discharged as medically unfit and there is his home address in Ballina Co. Mayo. He did re-enlist however and fight in WW1.
