Today's arrival was this little trio to Walter Maurice Bowyer, a Southampton-based Trinity House Pilot who saw service with the Elder Dempster Line, ferrying troops to and from South Africa to the UK. The Bowyer family had a long and illustrious relationship with Trinity House and Walter's uncle was the Pilot who guided the ill-fated Titanic out of the harbour on her maiden (and last) voyage.

Being a purely Merchant Navy man, with no links to the Royal Navy or R.N.R., his group of Transport Medal, British War Medal and Mercantile Marine Medal is complete.

Regards

Rory
