4063 Pte.James Manley Loyal North Lancs Mounted Infantry
James Manley was born in Birmingham Warwickshire in 1875
His attestation records show he joined the L.N.Lancs Regt. on 4th July 1893 his occupation is shown as labourer.
His description states
Height 5 feet 3 inches
Weight 117lbs with a chest measurement of 33 inches
Fresh complexion brown hair and eyes.
Pte. Manleys military history shows service in India, Ceylon and South Africa his total service lasted 16 years.
His service in South Africa earned his the clasps Diamond Hill, Johannesburg, Driefontein, Paardeberg and Cape Colony.
He was also entitled to the KSA
It seems Pte Manley had a eventfull service, he was imprisoned on five seperate occasions mostly for insubordination.
