His Medal includes eight pages of research, and more information may be possible on this Lord Strathcona's Horse Veteran through further research. John Charles Walker was 34 years old when he enlisted with the Lord Strathcona's Horse in Edmonton on February 7th 1900. He was born in Charlton London England, and had his nearest family in Vancouver British Columbia when enlisting. He was a Surveyor, Hunter and Prospector by trade. He served in South Africa with the Lord Strathcona's Horse, earning 4 clasps (his documents mention his earning of clasps except the 1901.) He returned to Canada March 8th 1901, and was discharged in Ottawa March 16th 1901.
An incredibly rare Medal to the famous Canadian Lord Strathcona's Horse (Under 600 Lord Strathcona's Horse served in South Africa during the War), this would be the highlight of any Canadian Medal, British Medal or general rare Militaria collection!
