DNW's excellent catalogue for the Jack Webb sale of medals to the CIV included biographical details for nearly every medal. These included the date of joining their respective volunteer units and occupation. Does anyone know the source of this information which presumably must have come from volunteer forces attestations as very few CIV attestation papers survived WW2? Is this information available somewhere for other CIV men?

DunnBoer,

Now I think about it, I don't recall seeing any CIV attestation paperwork.

The London Metropolitan Archives mentioned here may hold the key? aim25.com/cgi-bin/vcdf/detail?coll_id=15...8&nv1=browse&nv2=sub

Mackinnon's Journal includes a nominal list which only lists the unit from which they joined the CIV.

Thank you David. I think the information regarding their volunteering records pre 1900 must come from another source as their dates of joining the various different volunteer units in London and the Home Counties would not have been recorded on CIV attestations anyway. I have asked DNW where they got the info from but no reply as yet.
