Henry Bromley was commissioned into the Cape Colony Cyclist Corps and served as a Lieutenant during the Boer War.

He saw further service during the Great War in German South West Africa as a Captain with the Royal Engineers and applied for the issue of a 1914-15 Star,. Noonan's say this is unconfirmed and not recorded on his Medal Index Card.
