John Grundy was born in Manchester and attested for the Manchester Regiment. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Samana campaign from 3 to 25 May 1891, and then saw further service in South Africa during the Boer War, being invalided home.

QSA (3) Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1902 (6961 Pte, R. Perry: Manch. Regt.)

Robert Perry was born at Bucknall, Hanley in Staffordshire in January 1880 and was a collier when he enlisted in the 4th Volunteer Battalion Manchester Regiment on 29 November 1899. He was embodied in the 6th Battalion and served in South Africa from 5 April 1900 until 6 January 1902 being discharged time expired on 28 November 1905.

QSA (2) Cape Colony, Orange Free State (7747 Pte J. Hosker. Manchester Regt)

James Hosker was born in Manchester, Lancashire and was a weaver by trade upon his joining the Army in 1901, serving with the 5th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He is additionally entitled to the clasps South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902.
