Hi All,
This is a collection that I was most fortunate to acquire from an old friend last year. The recipient is J.E. Richardson, known as Edney. He was in the 6th Queensland Contingent. From his pay sheets he was invalided early.
The medal comes with a collection of shooting medallions, most notably the B Grade Queen's Medal Badge.
It is unknown if he was able to put his shooting prowess to good use during his time in Soth Africa.
The collection came with a sizeable file that I am still wading thru. There is also a Boer Mauser with his initials carved into the stock that I am still to organise freight etc from N.S.W.
I am most grateful that the previous custodian saw fit to pass it onto me.
Ok, I have spent the last hour attempting to resize the attachment. I'll leave it for now before the laptop goes thru the back window at the speed of a plummeting meteor.
Cheers,
Jim

Sounds like a first rate acquisition! There is a fair bit on OZ-Boer database concerning your man; mostly about his Welcome Home and subsequent career. Looking forward to seeing the pic of his Boer Mauser. Back in the 70's and 80's, Boer Mausers cropped up here quite regularly - some with names, some with initials/dates. Nothing flowery about the carvings, BTW. You don't see them now.
Regards
IL.

Jim,

I am sorry for that frustration. If you would like to email the images to me, I can post them for you.
