British War and Victory Medals (64332 Pte. G.B. Morrison. K.O.Y.L.I.);

George Morrison, of Macduff, Banffshire, Scotland, was born c.1877 enlisted with the Gordon Highlanders on 5 January 1898, and saw initial service in the East Indies prior to the Second Anglo-Boer War. He spent almost two and a half years serving in South Africa and continued to serve with the 1st Gordons until his discharge at Colchester owing to ‘neurasthenia’ in early 1911, after a depressive episode. Upon the outbreak of WWI he was recalled to service in December 1915, initially with the Labour Corps, but later transferring to the KOYLIs (15th Garrison Battalion) in July 1918.
