I seldom use the term "unbridled joy" but it aptly describes my current sentiments.

First some background - several years ago I acquired what I thought was a complete group to Major Plat of the Umvoti Mounted Rifles - there was, once I had secured the correspondence around the award of the CAFLSM, a lingering doubt that Plant had in fact been awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers Decoration but the jury was out as the paperwork was inconclusive.

I had communicated this to Plant's grandson but he knew nothing of another medal. Great was my surprise when. last week, he rang to say that he had been to tea with his sister and had "asked the question" - lo and behold she had the missing medal!!

A deal was concluded and voila the group is now complete!!
