I just obtained the following and have just checked it against FMP and our own unit list and have not been able to check the first initial...…

On the medal:

318 PRIVATE J. VAN DER MERWE, STEYNSBURG TOWN GUARD

In F.M.P:

318 PRIVATE G. VAN DER MERWE, STEYNSBURG TOWN GUARD

Can anyone verify the initial please......
