That is Odd........

Rank on QSA is Leading Signalman and rank on China is a Ordinary Signalman which is a lower rank.......

The book "Field Gun Jack Versus the Boers" says that "Signalman Large of the Terrible, on attachment to the army signallers, received from General Woodgate, half by heliograph, until a shell smashed the apparatus, and the remainder by flags, 'Am exposed to terrible crossfire, especially near first field dressing station;can barely hold my own; water badly needed. Help us, Woodgate'". "..,.. and within a few minutes the flags waved again and Large received "Reinforce at once or all is lost. General dead".
A very nice group, indeed. Especially with the Medal of St.George 4th class.

IL.

Those are a particularly pleasing pair, always nice to see the QSA and China war medal actually together to a single recipient, although, the Great War entitlement would leave a buyer wanting.
