TOPIC:

On a whim I purchased a QSA to 1185 Sergt. GW Ward of the 1st KFS. On the surface of thing there was nothing especial about the man but, a little digging revealed that he had seen post KFS service as a QMS with the Corps of Cattle Rangers.

I have scrutinised the few references to this outfit on the forum but wondered if anyone had some more detail around their doings.

A quite reasonable whim, indeed! A nice QSA. The Smith booklet on The Corps of Cattle Rangers - (ISBN 1 876179 75 9) - which I recommend for anyone interested in the background and some details of that unit, indicated that it was under the general command of ASC. It functioned principally in the Pretoria area from 4/01.
