A quick question... how many medals were issued off the Menne's Scouts roll?

I know that a large proportion of these men were "G" Squadron of the Colonial Scouts and would, in many instances, have had their medals issued off that roll.

On the Menne's Scouts rolls - on the first page of each there is usually written number of medals and clasps issued with date of issue and destination.

Am I correct in stating that there were 283 medals issued?

No, if you look just above Major Menne's name to the left it says "130 medals/217 clasps".

There will be other pages with similar information.

Tylden says briefly: A Natal corps, originally part of the Colonial Scouts, which served in the Eastern Transvaal, until disbanded in January, 1902.
