I have recently acquired this medal and a member on the British Medals Forum was kind enough to email me his service papers.

Of interest under campaigns on his Military History Sheet is listed Zululand 79 and Transvaal 1881, Egypt 1882 and Eastern Soudan 1884.

The entry for Transvaal 1881 interests me as it would appear he may been involved in the Laig's Nek incident of that year.

Unfortunately I don't have his Egypt medals.
