Thought I would share with fellow members

978 Horace Blackburn Coldstream Guards
QSA with clasps for
Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast, Cape Colony, Orange Free State and South Africa 1901
Horace attested on the 28th July 1897 at Sheffield he was 21 years and 6 months old and resided in Rotherham Yorkshire.
His occupation is given as a labourer and his physical description was
Height 5 feet 10 inches (quite tall compared to some soldiers details)
134lbs in weight with a 33 inch chest, brown eyes and hair, his religion is Church of England.
Horace served for 4 years and 96 days and his military history sheet states:
Home 28.7.97 to 17.3.00
South Africa 18.3.00 to 22.2.1901
Home 23.2.01 to 31.10.01
I am unable to locate any service papers for WW1 service although there are MIC records with this name
