Elandslaagte clasp medals have always been highly sought after (reflected in the current bidding....) by collectors.

Although the N.F.A. weren't able to do much with their puny little guns the fact that they were "there" is what matters most to collectors.

This one will be interesting to watch from the point of view that I have quite a number of medals with this clasp and it will act as a gauge to the market.

Regards

Rory

Not one that I'd buy, it will, indeed, be interesting to see what it sells for.

Rory, I assume all your "clasps" are, in fact, original examples, therefore, unlike the subject of this thread.

As far I am aware they are all original Frank. With the exception of 2 of my Elandslaagte medals they have all come from various families and not via dealers or auctions.

Of the 2 exceptions mentioned I have featured both on this Forum before - the first was to Phillips of the Devon's who died in Ladysmith in January 1900 and who came from a reputable British Auction House and the other, a 5 medal group to Gascoyne which, coincidentally is also to the NFA, came from a friend and fellow ABW forum member who is, to my mind, beyond reproach.

You must forgive my sense of humour Rory, I have no doubt that your medals are original, but, a glance at the subject of this thread does make me think twice about ebay, I think it is okay if you actually know the seller you are going to buy from, otherwise, it is very easy to become unstuck.
