I recently purchased a QSA with clasps DOK and OFS correctly named to 838 Pte M. B. Molloy Cape Police D2. His entitlement is confirmed on the Cape Police roll

and in David's book so all seemed straightforward. I have now obtained his Cape Police papers via Adrian Ellard's excellent service (thank you again Adrian).

These show that he didn't attest into the Cape Police until May 1900 in Kimberley and also show previous service in a Town Guard. I conclude that it is likely therefore that his entitlement to the DOK is based on previous service in the Kimberley Town Guard although this is not noted on the CP medal roll. There is a M. Molloy on the KTG roll

but again with no cross reference. Is it possible that these are one and the same person?

From the information you have I would, concur that my roll was wrong to separate out these two men and they do,sound,to be one and the same,

With thanks and best wishes
