He's on the roll, Mike.

WO100/280p184. Pte. CC clasp crossed through (as usual for the CI). He only appears to have served in the Cape Infantry.

Well done Mike

I was tempted to buy it myself having verified that he was on the roll (thanks David for adding the Cape Infantry's details)

Despite the absence of the two WWI medals you have a gem them there. If I were you I would request his WWI papers they will give you lots of detail around the man himself.

Regards

Rory

Good Afternoon Everyone......

Well it has arrived today and I am actually quite pleased......

The seller took some terrible pictures.....

The Cape Infantry naming looks perfect to me, the naming on the WW1 War Medal also looks OK......

I looked at some other War Medals that I have to South African members and the lettering looks the same..... I looked at the rim with a 25 power glass and there is no trace of any other naming and the rim is even all around so no other name has been taken off..... A South African member can tell me if I am right or wrong but I understand that blank WW1 medals were sent to SA and named there but not with the care that the mint's work......

Evening Mike - well done, a good punt!

SA WW1 medal naming can be a right mess.

The WWI unit is SA??

Hope his WW1 papers provide a good read for you.
