William Littlewood, a nineteen year old bricklayer, originally from Middlesex, living in Bexley Heath Kent, joined the Militia, the 3rd Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment on the 22nd of January 1894, he joined the Militia Reserve on the 18th of June 1898, but re engaged for the Militia on the 19th of June 1899, embodied for actual service with his battalion on the 11th of December 1899, he returned home on the 28th of June 1900 and was discharged, time expired on the 21st of January 1904.
A very pleasing medal and one that has actually become quite scarce over the last two decades, it had to be earned, in this particular case for service on Malta from the 4th of January 1900 to the 27th of June 1900.
