I recently purchased a set of medals to 878 Sgt John Livingstone including a QSA with clasps DoK and OFS. Several weeks later I received a group photo of John at his wedding in Cape Town about 1918 in which he was sporting his medals. I noticed that the QSA had 4 clasps and despite checking several records I have been unable to ascertain for sure if his entitlement is for 2 or 4 clasps. Are you able to help to solve this problem??

Thanks in advance

Toffeeman,

I first researched J Livingstone for my DoK book and listed him there as QSA (2) DoK and OFS and KSA (2). I have just reconfirmed these details and can see no reason why he should have any other clasps. He may have gained entitlement to other clasps with other units but I don't think so. He appears to have moved from the KTG to the KVR and been discharged from there in 1902.

QSA WO100/255p180
KSA WO100/362p171
He is listed on the KTG roll but his name is (correctly) crossed through.

Thanks for the quick reply. It seems logical that he is not entitled to further clasps but there are always quirks somewhere!!
