Hi, does anyone have a good tip for getting new ribbon onto a QSA/KSA, especially if you have say a 5 clasp QSA? I just don't seem to be able to 'thread' new ribbon at all!

Thanks in advance
Ian

What I do is to slip the ribbon down between the face and carraige of the bars until it pokes out the bottom of the stack. Then I use a pin to ease the ribbon out a bit more and then fold it back under the suspension bar, pull it out some more and then push the ribbon back up and (of course) behind the front bit. Sounds complicated, eh? Well it works for me and is occasionally a bit fiddley!
Happy threading.
IL.

Hi there, Thanks for that, I'm really struggling when it comes to 5 or 6 clasps. There's no doubt the new ribbon is thicker than the old ribbon so its going to be fun!

Polyester ribbon is certainly "thicker" actually some that I once handled, 1918 GSM, was all most rigid, quite frankly, it's awful, I always try and replace it with older cotton or silk.

It can be a struggle at times but I do exactly the same as Linneyl and I've yet to come up with a better method. The 7 claspers can be a bit of a nightmare though!
