Hi
Can anyone help me to identifiy the Uniform of in the photo attached, also any information on the soldier would help I haven't a clue where to start.

His name is Frank Joseph Richardson born in North Crawley, Bucks 1878,
I beleive it could be the Bucks or Beds Yeomanry not sure. the family thought it could even be ww1 but i think it looks older.
any help would be much appreciated

Shaun

Hi Shaun,
I am probably totally wrong, but the cap looks similar to that worn by The Natal Mounted Police?

Just found an old newspaper cutting on Frank Joseph Richardson's Obituary,
This confirms he was in the Bucks Yeomanry.
how do i find out more about this unit and poss some service records ?

Thanks
Shaun

Shaun,

There are militia papers for a FJR born that year in Kirby Moor Side, Yorkshire. Could that be him?

Hi
Thanks for that but I think its a different FJR, In his Obituary it just said joined the Bucks Yeomanry at the begining of the century, not sure if he got to South Africa or stayed on home service,
I have read so many articles it gets a bit complicated.
One article said he would have supplied his own horse, is this true ?
I can find no records for him or medal cards not really sure where to look, but he was enlisted as shown by the photo.
