I have been told that the NZ blokes wore this badge on their headgear. Can anybody confirm if other regimental badges were worn at all? Apologies for the poor quality scan. I need to redo it at some stage.

Yes, they did indeed and similar as collar badges too, some members of the NZMR also had badges made locally which featured fern leafs and of course there were others, the Kiwi bird, for example was a firm favourite, the skill of some of the King William's Town and Rand jewellers really came to the fore, moreover, the original contingent of Rough Riders wore NZRR, rather than the usual NZMR.

Stephen,
Sorry to be the bringer of bad tidings, but, that was worn by the City of London Yeomanry for a very long time as a collar badge and a cap/beret badge as late as WW2.
Regards Frank
