Good Evening Everyone.....

A while ago I was offered a Sword that was supposed to have been used during the Boer War by Strathcona's Horse.....

I knew that the regiment did not use swords during the war but did not have any written proof.....

Well I do now....

Militia Orders
Headquarters, Ottawa.
Thursday, 1st February 1900
G. O. 26 para. 1.
Special Service, Force

Arms The following will be the arms carried by the men:-

1 Lee-Enfield, .303 Rifle
1 Sword Bayonet
1 .44 Colt Revolver
Provisional Field Service Manuals showing the Equipment required, and how carried, will be issued, 1 copy per Officer and 1 copy per Squadron.

Regimental Order
Ottawa, 5th March 1900
By Lt. Col. Steele, Commanding, Strathcona’s Horse

R.O. 83 – 05-03-1900 Sam Brown Belts and Swords will be taken by Officers to South Africa and will be left on the transport for return after arrival in South Africa.

I am in the progress of a very long project for me re-typing onto a computer then putting on a disk the full Daily Routine Orders of Strathcona's Horse from its founding till it's disbandment....
