Scottish regiments used the 1895p basket hilted staff sergeants sword mk1.

However one sword I have, the 1898p Mk1 staff sergeants sword introduced in 1902 with dumbell blade is marked to a Scottish regiment,
the 48th Highlanders.
Were these used during the Boer War with khaki dress in leu of the basket hilt?
The guard may have been painted black as there is some remnants of paint in the engraved lines of the guard.

Does anyone have references or photographs of Scottish regiments wearing the 1898 pattern staff sergeants sword?

I'm sure the regimental mark is authentic but would like to confirm this.
