Hi, I recently came into possession of a Wilkinson sword that belonged to Lord Thomas O’Hagan 2nd Baron.
I’m doing research and am trying to discover as much as I can about him. I know he died in the war from illness.
Does anyone know any other information about him or his awards, medals? Anything he would have been recognized for? He came from a prominent family from what I understand, but he was so young when he passed. I can’t find much so far.

Medal roll for Lord T T O Hagan.
3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards.
Queens South Africa medal with 5 clasps.
Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill,Belfast & Cape Colony. Paper work dated 15th July 1901 at De Aar Cape Colony.

It maybe prudent to research his clasp entitlement, this would give you a overview of his time in South Africa and actions with his battalion before his death.

Oh wow! Thank you!! It’s unfortunate he died so young. And that medal would have been awarded to his family, right? Just because he wasn’t alive any longer at that date it was issued?
Do the clasps on the medal mean he was active in each of those battles?

It is very likely that his medal would have been forwarded to his esteemed family after his demise. His clasps were awarded for his service in those areas and the battles associated .
