Good Afternoon Everyone......

This has been a good week for me.....
First I am able to strike another medal off my want list and I also found the following......

COLT NEW SERVICE REVOLVER .455 ELEY

There was a special purchase of these for the Canadian Mounted Rifles and the Royal Canadian Regiment for their service in South Africa.....
No I am sorry this one is not one of those, I wish it was......
The last one I saw sold went for over $10,000.00 Canadian.....
This one though is the same make and model as they used.....

Due to Canadian fire arm regulations which are quite strict I am afraid that this revolver is a display piece only and cannot be fired and has been dewated/deactivated.....
Other wise I also could not have afforded to purchase it......

For your viewing pleasure......

Mike

Hello Mike,
Why $10.000, would that be for an example from that original batch with the appropriate serial number?
It does seem an awful lot of money.

Hi Frank......

Yes that is correct, I agree but it was in perfect condition, a full set of unit stamps, named holster, letter of verification from Colt and some other items........
I guess there were a couple of people who really wanted it.......

Hello Mike,
Okay, well I still think a lot of money, but, no matter, so what are you going to do with your example, would certainly be a talking point on the desk, a good paper weight perhaps, or will it be cased up on the wall?
Regards Frank

HI Frank.....

I am going to use it when I do display's at local shows, it was just something interesting to add...... I agree that the other piece was overly expensive and I could not see paying that much......

Hi Mike,

Well done, a lovely addition to your collection. I always think it is very sad these have to be deactivated but having owned firearms in the UK and having to submit to their restriction, I can understand the dilema (one reason I love living in the US).

Still a great piece that will display really well.

Cheerio

Roy

Collecting/wanted ABW insignia if anyone has some spares?
