Hi

I recently acquired two unrecorded Kruger items.

The first one is horribly battered , but still legible. It is, however, the first Spanish-language Kruger token that I have ever come across:

The "obverse" refers to Kruger as the "Hero of the Transvaal"

The reverse advertises two of a certain Dr Andreu's remedies. At the top : Coughdrops (literally translated as "Pills against coughing") and at the bottom he promotes "Nitrogenous papers against asthma". I assume one would have to burn these and inhale the fumes.

The second item is an irregularly shaped silver watch fob.

The obverse shows Kruger and in the background a Dutch windmill. The reverse depicts Boers firing on some Tommies. At 4 o'clock there is an engraver's name : it seems to be G SIALIN. Maybe one of you can come up with a better reading of the name!

Henk,

These are fascinating items. Many thanks for posting the images.

I have been struggling with the engravers name. I thought it was G Spalin. However, I can find no online reference to anyone of that name :(

Very interesting. I think it's Scandanavian and the engraver's name is G. S. Palin. Palin is a Finnish name.

Hello Henk

Have you come across Kruger cigarettes? I picked this packet up in Tenerife about 10 years ago, you can buy them on the 'net if needed for your collection.
