Good Afternoon Everyone.....

I have just obtained a Vesta Case with the Victorian crest of The Royal Canadian Artillery......

I understand that that the Regimental Association and Woman's Welfare Fund gave each of the men who went overseas to South Africa a Scarf, a Purse with $10.00 in it, a Writing Kit, a Pipe and a package of Tobacco and of course the Vesta Case on their departure..... They also received the sum of $10.00 every so often to the men that were hospitalized while they were in South Africa.... This was mentioned in both the Muncey and Lynn diaries..... In his diary Lynn stated that he always donated his $10.00 to the Soldiers Home at the hospital where he was being care for......

I am not sure if this is one of the official Vesta Cases or one that was in general circulation but I hope that it is......
