This came into my possesion; unusual in that it has Queen Victoria's head on the obverse, but is issued by the Corporation of the City of Cape Town "To commemerate the restoration of peace."
Perhaps issued after Pretoria had fallen?

The metal is fairly soft hence the damage. No real value but interesting

Hi Iain.......

Yes issued after Pretoria but before war ended......

Issued in 2 metals, Silver for Dignitaries and White Metal for School Children......

The value according to Hearn of the white metal is R1000.00

Thanks Mike,

quite surprising, very often these commerative medals have little to no value.

regards, Iain
