Hi, i'm a new member trying to trace my great, great grand father Edwin beck who could have fought in South Africa. i have lost trace of him after my great grand mother married in 1915 where he is listed on her marriage certificate as deceased and profession given as Gunner, royal garrison artillery! its just a long shot, but goggled his name and the steinaeckers horse came up.... any help would be appreciated

The E Beck in Steinaecker's Horse is Edward Beck.

I cannot see a E Beck in the RGA in the Boer War but there were men called E Beck present.

There are many service papers for E Becks. Do you have any more information on him?

Hi, the Edwin beck i am looking for is the father of my great grand mother Edith annie beck. She married in 1915 in devonpoet to a Albert smirthwaite. edwin beck is named on her marriage certificate as Deceased and profession given is gunner royal garrison artillery... they live for a period in tavistock devon (no big guns there)(1895) but there could be a connection to Hampshire (Portsmouth) not sure - family gossip.. i know her mother died when she was 12 years old but cant find any record of this! could edwin be Edvin? German refugee maybe??
